We endeavour to always provide a listening ear and an empathetic voice to take your call.  Taupō Women’s Refuge offers assistance, advice, information and at times, home support.

Taupō Women’s Refuge (Āwhina Society Trust) works together with women to make positive changes in our lives and the lives of our children.

Taupo Women’s Refuge offers support, advocacy and education 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

A refuge safe house is also available to women and children suffering the effects of family violence.

We provide plans and walk alongside women through their journey of positive change.

Need Help?

Taupō Women’s Refuge offers assistance, advice, information and at times home support.  We endeavour to always provide a listening ear and an empathetic voice to take your call.

Through our crisis line, we are here to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Follow the simple steps to be put through to your local Refuge. You will be automatically directed to an Advocate in your region.

ABOUT US

Who are we?

The Āwhina Society Trust are the Taupō Women’s Refuge and the Taupō Community Foodbank under the one roof with one team.  

The Āwhina Society has seen many changes throughout the years and has developed services for the Taupō community in response to community requests and the needs apparent in our community.

A Journey to Safety: One Woman's Story

Debbie's journey to safety began when she reached out to Taupō Women's Refuge after experiencing family violence. Through advocacy, safety planning, and support groups, she found the strength to break the cycle of abuse. Today, she and her children live without fear, embracing a future built on safety, healing, and hope.
